Pricing: buy the trip, not a subscription
If you searched for a language app you buy once instead of renting by the month, this is the page. Phrazl has three plans, a free preview and two one-time purchases, and none of them renew.
Planned pricing: the product is not open yet, and these prices may change before it launches. Join the waitlist to hear first.

No renewal date, because there is nothing to renew
A trip has an end. A subscription does not, which is how people end up paying in month eleven for a week in Lisbon they took in March.
Phrazl is priced the other way round. You pay once for the destination you are actually flying to, and that is the end of the transaction. There are three plans: Free preview at no cost, Trip pack at $9.99 once, and Full bundle at $19.99 once. No monthly tier, no annual tier, nothing that quietly becomes a higher price in a second year.
Phrazl is not open for purchase yet, so these are the planned prices, and the waitlist is where you find out when checkout opens.
Which plan fits which traveller
Free preview, if you want to hear it before you pay
Free. Set up one trip with the three-step setup, destination, departure date and scenarios, and you get the first 20 phrases of that trip with audio on every one, plus the departure countdown and the review schedule. It is a working sample of the real curriculum, not a demo screen.
Trip pack, if you have one trip in the diary
$9.99, paid once. One destination and up to three of the five scenarios, with 50 phrases per scenario, up to 150 in all, ordered by trip relevance. You get all three learning modes, flashcard, listen and repeat, and fill in the blank, every phrase at speed or slowed down to copy with a written pronunciation guide, and a review schedule that compresses as your departure date gets closer. It also carries a $5 returning traveller discount on your next destination.
Full bundle, if the diary has more than one flight in it
$19.99, paid once. Everything in Trip pack for every destination Phrazl covers, all 10 languages and all five scenarios, 2,500 phrases in all, and you can set up new trips whenever you like with no further purchase. The clearest trigger for choosing it is a second trip already on the calendar.
Two honest notes. One: a single trip is set up with up to three scenarios, so if you own the bundle and want the other two for the same destination, you set up a second trip for that destination rather than stretching one. Two: the audio is a synthesised voice, not a native speaker, and the app says so on the screens where you hear it. It will get you to the right syllables; it is not a recording of someone from the neighbourhood.
The five scenarios are restaurant, transport, hotel, shopping and emergency. The emergency set is for general communication practice and is not a substitute for contacting local emergency services or a qualified interpreter, and Phrazl says so on the screen where you choose it.
What the single payment buys
The phrase set, ranked
50 phrases per chosen scenario, ordered by how likely you are to need them on this trip rather than by lesson number.
Three ways to practise
Flashcard, listen and repeat with audio playback, and fill in the blank. Pick the one that suits the ten minutes you have.
Every phrase slowed down
Each phrase plays at speed or slowed so you can copy it, with a written pronunciation guide beside it. The voice is synthesised, not a native speaker.
A schedule tied to your departure
Reviews compress as the date approaches, so the practice lands before the flight rather than somewhere in month four.
A discount for coming back
Buy a Trip pack and a $5 returning traveller discount is applied at checkout on your second destination.
A record of what you own
Your account has a purchase history screen listing the trip packs you have bought, so what you paid for stays unlocked.
How billing works
Payment is a one-time Stripe checkout for the trip pack you choose. There is no interval, no recurring plan and nothing to cancel later, because nothing bills again.
The Free preview is where you start, and it costs nothing. Set up one trip and you get the first 20 phrases of it with audio on each. When you reach the end of those 20, Phrazl asks you to buy before it unlocks the rest. Up to that point you have spent nothing and heard how the phrases sound.
The limits are set by what you bought. Trip pack covers one destination and up to three scenarios, 50 phrases each, up to 150. If you want a different destination afterwards, that is a second purchase, with the $5 returning traveller discount applied at checkout. Full bundle removes the per-destination step, so new trips are set up rather than bought.
You sign in with an email address and a password, and your purchases are recorded against that account, as a Stripe checkout session and payment intent id, an amount and a status per trip pack, so the packs you own stay unlocked. If a purchase does not unlock what it named, the account screen carries a support form; there is no support email address. Stripe takes the card payment and keeps its own payment records as the law requires.
What the payment path records about you
Phrazl keeps one timestamped milestone per trip at five points: when you set the trip up, when you finish the free 20, when you see the paywall, when you start a checkout and when you complete a purchase. That is there so the people building this can see where travellers stop between signing up and paying. The sibling page on your account and your data sets out the full list of what is stored, why it is stored, and exactly what the delete account button removes.
Questions
Is Phrazl a subscription?
No. Trip pack is $9.99 paid once and Full bundle is $19.99 paid once. Neither has a billing interval, so there is no renewal and nothing to cancel.
Can I try it before I pay anything?
Yes. The Free preview costs nothing and gives you one trip set up in full, with the first 20 phrases, audio on each of them, the departure countdown and the review schedule. When you reach the end of those 20 phrases, Phrazl asks for payment to unlock the rest.
What is the difference between Trip pack and Full bundle?
Trip pack covers one destination and up to three of the five scenarios, 50 phrases per scenario and up to 150 in all, for $9.99. Full bundle covers all 10 languages and all five scenarios, 2,500 phrases in all, for $19.99, and lets you set up new trips at any time without another purchase.
What happens if I book a second trip later?
If you bought a Trip pack, a second destination is another Trip pack purchase, with a $5 returning traveller discount applied at checkout. If you bought the Full bundle, the next destination is already included.
Can one trip use all five scenarios?
A trip is set up with up to three scenarios, so the fourth and fifth live in a second trip for the same destination. The Full bundle is what makes that free of further charge, since all five scenarios and all ten languages are included once.
How do I pay?
Through a Stripe checkout for a one-time purchase. Stripe takes the card payment, and Phrazl keeps a purchase record of the Stripe session and payment intent ids, the amount and the status so it knows which trip packs your account owns.
Is the audio a native speaker?
No. Every phrase is spoken by a synthesised voice, at speed or slowed so you can copy it, with a written pronunciation guide beside it. The app labels it as a synthesised voice rather than letting you assume otherwise.
How do I sign in, and what happens to my data if I stop using it?
You sign in with an email address and a password, and Resend sends the password reset email when you ask for one. You can delete a single trip and its review history from that trip's edit screen, or use the delete account button on your account screen: it removes the account, trips, review history, purchase records and support requests at once. Stripe retains its own payment records as required by law, and there is a sibling page on what is stored and why.
