Reset your password
If you cannot remember the password on your Phrazl account, you ask for a reset from the sign-in screen and Phrazl emails you a link to set a new one. This page walks the whole route, including what to do when the email does not arrive.
When you need this
Phrazl accounts use an email address and a password, and nothing else. There is no code, no social sign-in and no second factor to fall back on, so a forgotten password is the one thing that stands between you and your trip.
Use this page if you are staring at the sign-in screen and the password you are sure about keeps being refused. Your trips, your departure dates, your review history and any trip pack you have bought are attached to the account, not to the password, so nothing is lost while you sort this out.
Resetting your password
- Open the sign-in screen
Everything starts where you normally sign in, since email and password is the only way into a Phrazl account.
- Follow the Forgot password link
The sign-in form carries a Forgot password link under it. It opens the screen where you ask for the reset.
- Give the email address your account uses
Type the address you created the account with. That is the only place the reset message can go, because it is the address held against your account.
- Open the reset email
Phrazl sends the message through Amazon SES to the address you gave. The email carries a link to the screen where you set a new password.
- Set a new password
The link opens the reset screen. Type the new password there. Phrazl stores it hashed, so nobody at Phrazl reads it, then or later.
- Sign in and pick up where you stopped
Sign in with the same email address and the new password. Your trip, its countdown, your review history and any pack you own are all still there waiting.
If the email does not arrive
Work through these before you assume something is broken.
- Check the spam or junk folder in the inbox for the address on your account.
- Confirm you asked using the exact address you signed up with, including any full stops or plus signs you may have used.
- Search the inbox for Phrazl rather than scrolling, in case the message filed itself somewhere tidy.
- Ask again from the Forgot password screen if the first request has clearly gone nowhere.
Still nothing, or no longer able to open that inbox at all? Email support@phrazl.com and say which address the account uses. Every message sent there lands in the support desk and a person reads it.
What a reset does not change
A new password is a new key, not a new account. The destination and departure date you set up, the phrase set chosen for your scenarios, the review schedule compressing towards your flight and every trip pack recorded against your account stay exactly as they were.
If you have come back after a gap and want to check what is due before you fly, the review schedule page explains how the pacing works once you are signed in again, and the getting started page covers the rest of the first run through.
Questions
Can I sign in with Google or Apple instead?
No. Phrazl accounts are email and password only, so resetting the password is the only way back in.
Will I lose my trip pack if I reset my password?
No. Purchase records are held against your account, so a pack you have bought stays unlocked after you set a new password.
Does Phrazl know my old password?
No. Your password is stored hashed, alongside your email address and name, purely so you can be signed in.
Is there two-factor authentication to get past as well?
No. Two-factor authentication is not in place on Phrazl today, so the reset email is the only step between you and a new password.
Who actually sends the reset email?
Amazon SES, part of Amazon Web Services, sends password reset emails to your address when you ask for one. Phrazl is hosted on Amazon Web Services too.
I no longer have access to the email address on my account. What now?
Email support@phrazl.com and tell the team which address the account was created with. That is the route for an inbox you can no longer open.
Can I delete the account instead and start again?
You can delete the whole account from the account screen once you are signed in, by typing your email to confirm. That removes the trips, review history, purchase records and support requests in one go, so reset the password first if you want to keep what you bought.
