Free 20-phrase preview gate before requiring purchase

Phrazl gives you the first 20 phrases of your trip free, before any payment, and the rest of that trip's curriculum sits behind a one-time purchase. This article walks the free preview from trip setup to the moment you decide, in the order you will meet it.

What the free preview gate is

The free preview is the first 20 phrases of the trip you set up. No card, no checkout, nothing to cancel: you set up a trip, you get 20 phrases with audio, you say them out loud, and the review schedule starts counting down to your departure date.

You need this article when you have worked through the preview and want to know exactly where the line falls, what the rest of the curriculum holds, and what a purchase changes. Two limits apply to the Free preview and they are both stated plainly: phrases, the first 20 of your trip, and destinations, one trip set up.

Using your free 20 phrases, step by step

  1. Set up the trip before anything else

Three steps: the destination, the departure date, and up to three scenarios of the five offered. The preview is shaped by all three, so a wrong date gives you a correctly ordered set on the wrong clock. There is a separate article on the setup itself.

  2. Open the first 20 phrases

Your trip's phrase set is pre-curated for that language and scenario combination and ordered by trip relevance, so the free 20 are the 20 the product ranks highest for your trip, not a scattered sample. Audio plays on every preview phrase: it is an AI voice, not a native speaker.

  3. Say them out loud and grade yourself

Each grade goes into the review schedule, which compresses its intervals towards your departure date as a hard deadline. Nothing here needs a purchase, and there are no streaks or XP to maintain.

  4. Read the readiness bar for what it is

One progress bar per trip, labelled as curriculum coverage completed. It tells you how much of the set you have worked through, not how a conversation will go in a restaurant in Lisbon.

  5. Decide at phrase 20

Past the free 20, the rest of that trip's curriculum requires a purchase. The Trip pack is £6.99 once for one destination, up to three of five scenarios, 200 to 300 phrases: 150 essentials plus 50 per scenario. The Full bundle is £16.99 once, all ten languages and all five scenarios, up to 400 phrases per destination.

  6. Pay once, then check the account screen

Checkout is a one-time Stripe payment, no subscription. Your account screen lists the trip packs you own. A Trip pack also takes £3 off your next destination, so the second pack is £3.99.

If the preview did not behave as you expected

If you finished the free 20 and want the rest, the purchase is the only route; there is no code or trial to extend it. If something you paid for has not appeared, the account screen lists the packs you own, and you can send a support request from that screen. You can also email support@phrazl.com, and messages there land in the support desk.

Housekeeping on the same screen: delete a single trip and its review history from that trip's edit screen, delete the whole account by typing your email to confirm, or download a JSON file of everything held about you.

If you are still earlier than the gate, the companion articles cover setting up the trip, how the phrase sets are ordered, and how the review schedule compresses as your departure gets closer.

Questions

Does the free 20-phrase preview expire?

The limits on the Free preview are the ones stated in the plan: the first 20 phrases of your trip, and one trip set up. It is counted in phrases and trips, not in days.

Can I preview a second destination for free?

No. The Free preview allows one trip set up. Covering a second destination means a Trip pack for it, or the Full bundle, which lets you set up new trips with no further purchase.

Are the free 20 phrases chosen at random?

No. Your set is pre-curated for the language and scenario combination you picked and ordered by trip relevance, so the free 20 are the highest-ranked 20 for your trip.

Is there audio on the preview phrases?

Yes, audio plays on every preview phrase. It is an AI voice, not a native speaker, and the product says so on the screens where you hear it.

Does my review history from the preview carry over when I buy?

Your review history is stored per phrase against your account, as result, interval and next review time, and is kept while the account exists. Buying the pack adds the rest of the curriculum to the same trip.

How do I pay, and where can I buy from?

Checkout is a one-time payment taken by Stripe, which collects your billing address to work out UK VAT. Purchases are open to customers in the United Kingdom for now.

Where can I see what I have bought?

The account screen shows your purchase history and the trip packs you own, along with the £3 returning-traveller discount standing for your next destination.

Can I use the emergency scenario phrases in a real emergency?

They are there for general communication practice only, and are not a substitute for contacting local emergency services or a qualified interpreter. The product states the same thing where you select that scenario and in its terms.

Set up the trip you have booked

Pick where you are going and when you leave, choose up to three scenarios, and work through the first twenty phrases before you pay anything.
